Kongs Restaurant
Chinese Restaurant And Takeaway
“We couldn’t be happier with the work Marden has done for us. He built a website for Kong’s Restaurant that ticked all the boxes and gave it a much-needed fresh look. He listened to all our suggestions and included everything we wanted, making the whole process straightforward and stress-free.

Website Design Overview
Kong’s Restaurant is an award winning Chinese restaurant and takeaway in Abergavenny, known for their All You Can Eat Banquet, à la carte menu, and loyal local customer base. When they approached me, their existing website was outdated, difficult to navigate, and offered very little visual appeal with almost no imagery to represent the quality of their food or dining experience.
They wanted a modern website that clearly showcased their three core offerings, highlighted their achievements including winning Mid Wales Chinese Restaurant of the Year, and helped them present a more professional and trustworthy image online. The goal was simple. Attract more customers, make information easier to find, and bring their digital presence up to the same standard as their food and service.
To achieve this, I designed a brand new website from the ground up with a clean structure, updated visuals, improved user experience, and a layout that made their menus, opening times, and services instantly clear.

Website Design Challenges
Kong’s existing website had several issues that made it difficult for customers to find the information they needed. The site was built on an outdated system, with slow loading speeds, a confusing layout, and almost no images to showcase the food or the restaurant. This made the overall experience feel uninviting and did not reflect the high standard of the restaurant itself.
Another major challenge was the lack of clear structure around their three main services. The All You Can Eat Banquet, à la carte menu, and takeaway options were not displayed clearly, which meant potential customers could not quickly understand what Kong’s offered. Important details like opening hours, pricing, and how the menus worked were also difficult to find.
Since Kong’s has strong recognition locally and has won awards for their food, it was important that the new site highlighted these achievements. Their old website did not convey their reputation, which meant they were missing out on valuable trust and credibility.
Finally, with more restaurants in the area improving their online presence, Kong’s needed a website that could compete. This required better visuals, improved structure, and a design that made it easy for users to browse on mobile devices.

The Result
The new website gave Kong’s Restaurant a modern and professional online presence that finally reflects the quality of their food and service. With clear navigation, updated visuals, and a simple layout that highlights their All You Can Eat Banquet, à la carte menu, and takeaway options, customers can now find exactly what they need within seconds.
Showcasing their award as Mid Wales Chinese Restaurant of the Year added instant credibility and helped reinforce their reputation in the local area. The improved structure and mobile friendly design also made it easier for customers to check menus, opening times, and contact details while on the go.
Since launching the new site, Kong’s has received positive feedback from customers who found it easier to browse and understand what they offer. The updated design has helped them stand out among local competitors and strengthened their digital presence, supporting both dine in and takeaway growth.

Social Media Marketing Overview
Kong’s Restaurant wanted to strengthen their online presence and reach more people across Facebook and Instagram. Before working together, their social media activity was minimal, with very few posts and no consistent strategy. Customers were not seeing regular updates, and the quality of the visuals did not reflect the food or experience they offer.
To change this, I began managing their social media and creating a mix of reels, food photography, menu highlights, seasonal content, and regular updates. I visit the restaurant in person to take high quality photos and videos, then plan and produce content that fits their brand and helps them stay active online.
The goal was simple. Improve visibility, build a stronger brand image, and encourage more bookings by showing people exactly what Kong’s has to offer. Since taking over their social media, they have seen higher engagement, more views on posts and reels, and an increase in customers saying they spotted the restaurant on Facebook. They are also receiving more messages and enquiries directly through their social platforms.

Improved Visibility: Reaching more people online

Platforms Used: Instagram And Facebook

Consistent Posting: Planned and Scheduled

Social Media Marketing Challenges
Kong’s Restaurant had very little social media presence when we started working together. Posting was inconsistent, the content lacked quality, and there was no strategy in place to help them reach new customers. Since their food and overall dining experience are such strong selling points, the existing visuals were not doing the restaurant justice.
Another challenge was the need for original content. To maintain a consistent and engaging feed, high quality photos and videos were essential. This meant visiting the restaurant to capture real dishes, the atmosphere, and behind the scenes moments that customers would connect with.
Kong’s also needed a clearer posting routine and a more structured approach to promoting their All You Can Eat Banquet, à la carte dishes, and takeaway services. With competitors increasing their presence online, it was important to ensure Kong’s stood out locally and reached people across both Instagram and Facebook.

The Result
Since taking over their social media, Kong’s has seen noticeable improvements in engagement and customer interaction. Posts now receive higher views, reels perform consistently well, and customers often mention that they saw updates on Facebook before visiting the restaurant.
The quality of their online presence has improved significantly, helping strengthen their brand image and giving potential customers a more accurate impression of the restaurant. Regular posting and professional content have also increased their visibility in the community, leading to more messages, enquiries, and repeat engagement across both platforms.
By combining professional photography, short form video, and consistent posting, Kong’s now has a social media presence that supports their business growth and keeps them front of mind for local diners.
